Hussain began his career in finance in New York with Merrill Lynch. In 2003, Hussain led Iraq government coverage at Citigroup and was part of the core team that successfully restructured the USD 22 billion Saddam-era commercial claims and issued the debut USD 2.7 billion Iraq Eurobond. In 2009-2011 Hussain served as advisor to the UAE and Oman governments and private royal wealth funds. Hussain is a Board Member of the RAND Corporation’s Center for Middle East Public Policy and Member of the Atlantic Council’s Task Force on the Future of Iraq. He served as President of the U.S. Business Council in Iraq 2011-2014 and in 2012-13 as honorary Economic Advisor to the Governor of Basra.
